MOST everyone's guess is that John Lloyd Cruz will be the final choice for the role of Armando in the upcoming teleserye, "Betty La Fea," which has Bea Alonzo playing the title role. The part fits John Lloyd to a T.
Armando is a playboy who works in an advertising agency which his father owns. Betty is his ugly secretary.
In Colombia, where "Betty La Fea" originated, it was Colombian actor Enrique Abella, who, like John Lloyd, has appeared in a number of drama series, who portrayed Armando.
The team-up of John Lloyd and Bea is one to reckon with. They have been together in a number of TV series, all top-raters. Their last film together, "One More Chance," won them the "Box Office King and Queen" title from the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Award and Scholarship Foundation.

In the meantime, however, John Lloyd is teaming up with Sarah Geronimo in his new movie with Star Cinema, "A Very Special Love." They are being paired for the first time. And they, too, look like a perfect pair.
The movie is a fitting 15th anniversary offering of the No. 1 movie studio in the country, Star Cinema, which co-produces the project with Viva Films.
"'A Very Special Love' is a simple story of a girl and a boy," says Cathy Garcia Molina, who directs the movie. "It is about a dreamer who falls in love with a good-looking and rich guy. Sarah plays the dreamer. The dream boy is John Lloyd.
"Like me, I want the viewer to dig deeper into the psyche of the two characters," she continues, "I want to find the answer to the question: 'If you love somebody, do you have to expect him or her to love you in return?'"
It was Cathy who directed "One More Chance," which was her third project with John Lloyd and Bea. She is lucky, she admits, because all her movies with the two were blockbusters.
"But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the public will also respond favorably to the team-up of John Lloyd and Sarah. Nakita kong maganda rin ang chemistry nilang dalawa," Direk Cathy reveals.
