The long wait is over. Premiere actor John Lloyd Cruz had been named as the man behind the most sought-after bachelor in I Love Betty La Fea. "Dun sa mga naghihintay at umaasa na ako sana ang maging Armando, I’m very happy to be here and to tell them na it's me, I’m playing Armando," said the actor in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN.com last August 8. Straight from the success of A Very Special Love, John Lloyd plunged back to work for his new series, excited with the challenges that come with it. One of which is getting to know the quirks of a certified ladies’ man like Armando. Having barely started, he hoped people wouldn’t expect too much from him for now. "Hindi ko alam kung maka-convince ko sila, pero sana," he grinned.

Surprisingly, working with Bea Alonzo again wasn’t any easier as they both felt awkward during his first taping day in the plush headquarters of Eco Moda Manila. John Lloyd honestly remarked, "Medyo weird yung pakiramdam. Ganun ata eh ‘pag medyo matagal kayong hindi nagkakasama, hindi nagkakatrabaho. At saka ibang-iba siya dito eh. Ibang-iba yung itsura at character niya." He explained though that it was just because they are still adjusting to roles far different from what they have done before. As for getting back with his long-time leading lady, John Lloyd insisted that there was no love team split-up to begin with. "Kahit hindi ko gawin ang role na ‘to, hindi naman talaga mabubuwag yung team up namin. Andyan na yan." He further stressed, "Kahit ano pa ang dumaan, ilang palabas pa ni Bea ang gawin niya na mag-isa siya, at ako din naman, hindi na mabubuwag yung tandem namin. Imposible na yun."

John Lloyd also denied rumours that it took him long enough in accepting the role of Armando because he didn’t want to pair up with Bea again. "It was actually management’s decision. It was their call, it wasn’t mine. At the end of the day, I am still a soldier of the company. Kung ano ang ipagawa sa akin, gagawin ko. Sa tingin ko naman ang pinaka-importante is that I’m here and I’m doing the role," he finally stated.

John Lloyd is the best choice for the part of Armando. Their tandem is really great.
