Joem Bascon chooses being a real actor over fame

Joem Bascon is intent in making himself known as a real actor, more than just aiming for fame.
“It’s not for the fame, it’s not for anything else,” he emphasized. “’Yung craft ko papalalimin ko pa. Kasi andito na ko, eh. Sayang naman kung andito ako tapos tingin sa akin ng tao ang babaw ko as an actor.”

It is for this main reason that Joem has decided to venture in accepting roles for independent films.He recently won the breakthrough performance by an actor from the Golden Screen Awards for his performance in the indie film, Batanes. He has also got praises in another indie project, Adela. “Off-beat roles ang mga ginagawa ko,” he said. “Hindi ako ‘yung teeny bopper, pero at least nako-contribute naman ako sa story. Hindi ko na masyado iniisip kung sisikat ako o hindi. Basta kung magwo-work ako, ie-enhance ko ‘yung craft ko, bahala na kung ano ang magiging tingin ng tao.”

Joem is now regularly seen on I Love Betty La Fea, playing the role of Armando’s playboy best friend Mario.
