The Devil Wears Moda: Ruffa Gutierrez as Daniela Valencia

If Ecomoda Manila were a real office, everyone would be intimidated to apply a job there when everyone knows about Daniela Valencia as she's the one you should not ever mess with. Don't ride with her in the elevator, or block her path, and even accidentally bump her if you still care about your dear future. She's a perfect combination of wit level of Daniel Valencia (Yo Soy Betty La Fea), the eccentricity of Miranda Priestly (Devil Wears Prada), and naughty sensuality of Wilhelmina Slater (US Ugly Betty), all wrapped up into a devil in vampy glamourous package. She's played by no other than beauty queen-actress Ruffa Gutierrez. What is more intimidating, her incredible good looks, her diva personality or her devastating intellect? Check out her dazzling photos after the jump.

Ruffa Gutierrez admits she is scared of Bea Alonzo’s fans

by Manila P. Santos

In a visit to the I Love Betty La Fea set yesterday, August 20, Ruffa Gutierrez admitted to ABS-CBN.com that she is scared of how loyal Bea Alonzo fans will react to her role as Daniella, Bea’s domineering boss. "When I was first offered this role, naisip ko, ayoko maging kontrabida. Kasi nakakatakot. Baka batuhin ako ng mga fans ni Bea ng kamatis!" she says.

The former beauty queen is also very much excited to show off her colorful character. "My character is really fun to portray. Buti na lang funny siya at hindi naman masyadong kontrabida. There’s a reason why my character has this kind of attitude, so I thought I might as well play with it na. Naisip ko gagalingan ko na and I’m going to give my 200%. Hindi ko dapat gawing soft yung character kasi hindi naman talaga siya soft. I decided to just give my all and just own the character not just through the clothes she wears pero pati na rin sa actions and mannerisms niya," she shares.

Ruffa also went through a one-on-one acting workshop with Director Laurice Guillen to prepare for the role of the feisty Daniella. "Compulsory naman sa lahat ng cast na mag-workshop pero humingi din ako ng one-on-one with Direk Laurice kasi matagal na din akong hindi nag-drama. Gusto ko talaga mapaghusayan yung role ko. Gusto ko talaga pag-aralan para at least naman mapansion ang aking acting. Para naman maganda yung feedback. I’m receptive to that so I’m really happy na pumayag si Direk Laurice, especially with her hectic schedule and talagang masaya. Maganda yung mga ginawa namin na in-apply ko na. Alam nyo naman ako in real life, masyado akong mabait kaya mahirap sa akin ang laging galit," she shares.

Ruffa also comes to her character’s defense by saying that Daniella isn’t your typical teleserye villain. "Well she’s not the mean type na nangbubugbog or nang-aapi. Galit siya sa mga tao. Pero galit siya for a reason. Malalaman ng mga tao yun through her past," she explains.

When it comes to similarities, Ruffa says she and Daniella do have one common denominator. "I’m a character here na sort of like in real life, walang love life (laughs). Ang daming ibang focus. So there’s no time to be lonely. I just feel that I’m blessed. Siguro ngayon career ko naman ang bigyan ko ng pansin. Kasi naman for years andun ako sa Istanbul, puro pag-ibig at pamilya ang binigyan ko ng pansin. So ngayon naman ang mga anak at ang job ko," she stresses.

The doting mother of two has been working hard lately, taking care of her daughters Lorin and Venice while taping all day for the series. "Today I have 25 sequences, so it’s really difficult. We have to come in really early and finish early morning na. Pero nag-e-enjoy naman ako and so far so good," she admits.

A different Ruffa Gutierrez in I Love Betty La Fea

By Napoleon Quintos
Source: www.ABS-CBN.com

Ruffa Gutierrez carried the beauty and glamour that she has been known for when she walked in for her special press conference for I Love Betty La Fea. The beauty queen-actress will play Daniela, the main kontrabida to Bea Alonzo. Although she portrays a discriminating corporate woman, Ruffa revealed that there was a time when she felt like poor Betty.

"When I was in grade school I felt really ugly. I was the shortest in the class, I had frizzy hair, I was wearing glasses because I couldn’t see the board. I remember that time na gusto kong maging Kris Aquino na straight ang hair. Pero kahit anong gawin kong blow dry sa buhok ko super kulot pa rin siya. I envied the typical Filipina girl na straight ang hair, cute, may kolehiyala accent." Ruffa recalled.

But the former teen star said that she got rid of all her insecurities when she underwent training for the Look Of The Year modeling competition. That later paved the way for her to represent our country in the 1993 Ms. World where she was crowned as Second Princess. Since then Ruffa has become the symbol of beauty, brains, and talent appearing in movies, television, commercials, and magazines.

With her role as Daniela, Ruffa is ready to showcase her side as a real-life fashion enthusiast. She will get to wear the best clothes crafted by known Filipino designers Kate Torralba, Rajo Laurel, Jun Escario, and Mitch Dulce among others, plus a few of her personal jewelry, bags, and shoes which she gladly shared for the show. But aside from the look, Ruffa also found a challenge in breathing life into the kontrabida role. "Ibang Ruffa Gutierrez yung makikita nila dito. Gusto kong i-separate yung pagiging Daniela ko sa pagiging Ruffa. Si Daniela is matapang, mataray, scheming, at ambisyosa. That’s not me, but I will give it my best shot to portray my character." she said.

Watch out for Ruffa as Daniela in I Love Betty La Fea premiering very soon. Also keep it here on www.ABS-CBN.com and ilovebettylafea.multiply.com for more exclusive updates on the show.
