Will I Love Betty La Fea ring out the true love between Sam Concepcion and rising star Cheska Ortega?

Will the comedy-drama series "I Love Betty La Fea" bring out the true love between young singer Sam Concepcion and rising star Cheska Ortega?

Cheska will be the latest guest to drop in the exciting plot of "Betty La Fea" this week. She will be the love interest of Betty's (Bea Alonzo) younger brother Andrew (Sam). How will they meet and how their love will develop are for the viewers to find out.

Sam and Cheska already worked together in Disney's High School Musical production where they made beautiful music together. Since then, they both frequently encountered questions about how they feel for each other.

In one of Cheska's interview, she said: "Sam and I are friends. We've just known each other for so long (I was 10 and he was nine) that people actually think that we're together."

Sam, for his part, related that he is still too young to fall in love. He said: "When the right time and the right girl comes my way, I would gladly let myself fall; but for now, I am happy with my work, friends, and family." Sam is only 14 years old. He was named The Brightest Star in the Big Division of ABS-CBN 2's hit kiddie singing search "Little Big Star." He also appeared in several ABS-CBN 2's TV series and shows like "Super Inggo," "Walang Kapalit," "Y Speak," "ASAP," and "Your Song."

Just recently, Sam was chosen by Dreamworks to sing the theme song entitled "Kung Fu Fighting" for the animated movie "Kung Fu Panda" for its Philippine run. He was the first Filipino artist to have collaborated with Dreamworks.

Cheska, meanwhile, is a smart girl from Saint Pedro Poveda College. She is one of the fresh artists included in the new batch of Star Magic 16. She gained popularity when she portrayed Gabriella Montez in the Philippines' local version of High School Musical.

"Betty la Fea" will be her first project with ABS-CBN network. Under the direction of Erick Salud and Don Cuaresma, the comedy series airs on weeknights after "Dyosa" in ABS-CBN 2.

Sam Concepcion balances showbiz, singing and school work

Sam Concepcion was in high spirits when ABS-CBN.com caught up with him. He had just finished promoting his version of the single Kung Fu Fighting which was included in the original soundtrack of the Dreamworks movie Kung Fu Panda. "It was really fun doing it. Shooting the video was really, really cool. Sobrang saya. And the movie itself was so fun," he recalled.

The 15-year-old high school student is currently enrolled in a computer-based home school program as a 10th grader in the Alpha Omega Academy. "We decided to do this to make my schedule more flexible for me. But it’s really fun. I really like studying and it’s my first time to be home schooled. I have five subjects. I enjoy knowing more about world history and Spanish the most," he explains. Education, is still considered a priority for this rising star as he has also been doing school tours in relation to his appointment by the Philippine's Department of Education as the newest Youth Role Model and Spokesperson.

When he’s not busy with schoolwork or showbiz obligations, Sam likes staying at home watching TV or rehearsing his songs by himself. "If I don’t stay in the house, I’m probably hanging out with my friends from Trumpets or High School Musical. We like to go malling or just visiting each other’s houses," he says. The teen idol also has his share of celebrity crushes, but prefers good singers over actresses or models. "I really like JoJo. I think she’s the best 17-year-old singer and she’s really, really good. Locally, I think Nikki Gil has a beautiful voice. I tend to like girls who can sing, dance, and perform well," he shyly confesses.

Sam also joins the cast of I Love Betty La Fea in the role of Andrew, the younger brother of Betty. The teen actor is excited to be able to work with Bea Alonzo, Vhong Navarro, and most of the other members of the cast for the very first time. Sam has also been promoting his self-titled album Sam Concepcion under Universal Records which was repackaged with music videos.

Betty La Fea's "Andrew" actor Sam Concepcion leads the cast of the youth-oriented show Lipgloss

Young singer-actor Sam Concepcion leads the cast of the youth-oriented show Lipgloss, one of the new shows of TV5 (formerly ABC-5). TV5 was formally launched on August 9, 2008 by switching on its 120-killowatt transmitter and a big welcome party by the big stars of the network.

Lipgloss is reportedly based on the hit TV series Gossip Girl and follows the lives of the students of an ultra-exclusive high school through the school’s “unofficial” website.

Leading the male cast are Star Magic’s Rodjun Cruz, the older brother of Rayver Cruz, playing the main antagonist Jake; Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Season 1 housemates Fred Payawan as Jake’s younger brother Jiggo and Mikee Lee as the resident bad boy Maui; and first Little Big Star winner no other than Sam Concepcion as the moderator of the website Lipgloss as Kyle.

Lipgloss pilots this Saturday, August 16, at 5 p.m.

First Grand Sam Concepcion Conference: Success!

On behalf of the Site Team, Elite Samsters, Moderators and Administrators, I would like to thank all of the 95 members who came out to Chat with Sam last July 26, 2008! It was obvious to all that everybody had fun and there were a lot of excitement!

Many came out 2 hours before the Chat officially began. The Admins laid out rules and mostly everyone followed. The technical run was done in a room which was for the Elite Samsters only. There, Tito Ray (Sam’s Dad) tested out their laptop’s microphone and web cam so that it would smoothly work during the Chat session. We had troubles with the web cam but it was eventually fixed. Soon after, more Samsters logged on and the Chat began at 3:00 pm sharp.

The Admins made a room named, “Grand Confe w/ Sam”. Soon, everybody joined in the room. When Sam appeared on the webcam, his account was still in the Lobby, so many may have thought that he was delayed. Soon after, Sam and his dad’s account joined in the said room and the excitement doubled.

Many Samsters also had their Audios and Videos on which was clearly stated on the Rules & Regulations that it was only Sam who would use those. This caused feedback on Sam’s part. Eventually, Sam’s internet connection disconnected causing the Samsters to hang on tight until he came back. The disconnection happened twice. We should all learn that the disobedience of rules will not only affect the others, but Sam as well which will cost for everybody’s satisfaction. Because of the disconnection, the Chat session was extended for 30 minutes on Sam’s request.

A few rules were broken but it was a great experience overall! Most replies were not acknowledged because of the speed of the Chat. Everyone was typing at the same time! This caused confusion for Sam so what the Elite Samsters have done was that they took questions that were sensibly fun and retyped them in bold, red font so that Sam will get to answer them. Yes, he only answered questions that were safe and appropriate. Do not be disappointed if your question was not acknowledged.

We hope that you all enjoyed the Chat session! Sam and his family enjoyed it as well, which brings another Chat session around next month if possible! Thank you to those who obeyed the rules - you guys really made it fun! Special recognition goes to member, POL, who helped with the reminder of the rules.
