The pilot episode of I Love Betty La Fea last September 8 succeeded in hooking viewers with the hilarious dialogue, unexpected puns, and comic timing. Vhong Navarro’s flair for comedy is a given, but ABS-CBN.com’s Drama Prince and Princess John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo have successfully gone beyond their comfort zones for their first venture into a comedy series.
Fans simply loved the circumstantial humor surrounding Beatriz Pengson’s (Alonzo) difficult yet happy life, while Armando Solis’s philandering ways has gained John Lloyd even more female admirers. Letsky, an online fan, weighed in on the series on the I Love Betty La Fea multiply site. “Ang ganda-ganda! Bagay na bagay kay Bea yung Betty role, and kay JLC yung Armando. Ang cute, pabling na pabling ang dating, which is true naman na madaming nagkakagustong girls sa kanya.” Betty’s smitten look every time she bumps into Armando inside Eco Moda is definitely laugh-out-loud material, with people waiting to see their next scene together.
But aside from the unbeatable Lloydy-Bea team-up, the other members of the I Love Betty La Fea cast have their own time to shine. Even Ruffa Guttierez’s supposedly hateful character becomes endearing as she delivers striking lines like, “I’m not bitter, I’m just better” with her usual panache. “The pilot episode was hilarious! My eyes are glued (to the screen) from start to end. I super love it! Bettyful indeed! ‘Pag hindi ‘to nag-rate, hindi na talaga ako maniniwala sa credibility ng ratings,” Multiply member Lovelyjen28 remarked.
Cast members Megan Young, Thou Reyes, Wendy Valdez, Joem Bascon, and Sam Concepcion also made a great impact on viewers. “Maraming-maraming salamat sa Diyos at ABS-CBN dahil napakaganda ng I Love Betty La Fea at nakakalimutan ko ang sobrang dami kung problema [sa kakatawa]. Maraming aangat nanaman na talent ng Star Magic. Sabi ng brother ko, Megan Young is [like] a little Ruffa. Ang lakas ng personality niya dito. And of course sa LAB (John Lloyd and Bea) ko, sobrang mahal ko na kayo at napakagaling niyo dito,” online fan Jenababe78 exclaimed.
